About

During my hunt for a home, I engaged in a lot of research, dialog, site visits, internet searches etc to find the perfect home for me and my family. I thought since I have a lot of info at hand, it would be really helpful to others like me if I started a blog. And VOILA! , thats the origin of this blog

About me:

I am a management consultant living in Chennai and who recently purchased an apartment in the OMR.

Hope all of you find a lovely home. Happy house hunting..

Hi, Nice to see a blog on OMR real estate at last! I m new to Chennai and am at the start of the process to invest in Chennai real estate. What are the projects that you would suggest me to look at?

      Hi Prasanth

I would recommend DLF as it is the cheapest available and is quite professional. Ramanyam Constructions would be the second as their are also priced reasonably and it located nearer to Madhya Kailash and Perungudi. L&T Eden Park is also worth a look. I am sure there are many other projects like Olympia Opaline (already finished quite a lot of construction). Hiranandani is very expensive but good quality.

The rates in December were between 2750 to 3300 per sqft.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I just had an apprehension with the DLF project. I was told that the approach road is via a Tsunami Rehabilitation area, which resembles a slum. I didnt visit the site though. Is that true?

      Hi Prasanth,

That is quite true. However DLF is in the process of building a flyover, which would avoid the colony and go straight into Gardencity. I think there is progress in that work. After the flyover is done, one does not have to go through the Tsunami colony.
Having said that the DLF authorities are working with the residents of the colony to train them in various professions, so that they become productive and can gain employment in garden city – drivers, cooks, maids, handymen, electricians etc.

I understand your concern. I suggest you take a visit and see for yourself. There is a 2 km road that leads to the site from the OMR, this they promised would be widened.

There are also other players like vijayshanti etc that builds on the OMR. Since you are on the look out, I suggest you search for properties in GST road too. I would recommend this site, its quite good and gives a comprehensive view of the flats and their prices etc.
